The Attorney General attacked the Halifax yesterday for its ‘flippant’ warning to customers to take their business elsewhere if they object to its woke approach to gender issues.
Last week, the banking giant ordered staff to wear badges bearing their ‘preferred pronouns’ to prevent the ‘accidental misgendering’ of trans staff.
It led to thousands of complaints, but the bank responded by telling customers: ‘If you disagree with our values, you’re welcome to close your account.’
Attorney General Suella Braverman, who is also MP for Fareham, said yesterday: ‘What is the impact on the old lady in Fareham who actually depends on that bank to get her cash?’

She added: ‘I think Halifax’s position is flippant and doesn’t take account of the real world impacts on many members of our society.’
In an interview with The Sunday Telegraph, she said the Halifax’s woke move was part of a ‘collective frenzy’ over certain rights that results in the ‘basics of biology (being) turned upside down’.
